I don't really have anything inspiring to write at the moment, or I should say writing resulting from something inspiring to write. Did have a cool weekend though. Chilled out on the 4th, which was actually quite nice to have some peace. Did an agency shoot on Saturday morning. Received an unbearably arrogant and pompeous email from Julia who doesn't know me at all but felt she was so superior to me as a human being that she'd try to book a "free" photo shoot for her super model boyfriend with me and somehow I should be honored or claw at the opportunity because I could use the benefit. That was kind of amusing. I abhore people who act "entitled" with little merit for being that way. It's rude. What did Hannibal Lector say about rude people? Yum yum...lol. No, I'm seriously NOT like that...lol. Anyway, Saturday continued. Got stiffed on a shoot by Justina. That happens a lot in this business. Mostly rooted in poor communication. Oh well, we'll pick up again probably. She's actually very sweet and I won't hold it against her.
Sunday! Roll out of bed bright and early to go pickup Jen for our morning light shoot at Tift park....get there...no Jen. Jen is sleeping. It was early so I text her on her phone instead of calling to wake up the house. Twice, no Jen. Oh well, went off to breakfast. Get a text about 1/2 hour later, "YO!", then a frantic phone call immediately after. Jen's pissed at me...lol. Because I text instead of calling to wake her up. Neat. If she wasn't so fucking adorable and charming in an annoyingly effective way I'd simply just give her the " you ARE a tool" response and just move on. But, she was genuinely apologetic (or so I thought, could be masterful acting as she likes to claim she's a good actress...lol) and seemed genuinely interested in creating work. The latter is actually pretty rare let alone being combined with a charm like that which Jen exudes when she's letting you in or maybe I could say climbing into you. Jen climbing in feels good. It's like having a strange loving stray return to you despite them wandering the world in distractions irresistable to them. There's a charm in that which is hard to kick to the curb. Not that I have a desire to kick Jen to the curb at all actually. Would you believe she actually forced me to watch "The Notebook" once recently which I've resisted for so long because of some pretty fucked up associations I have of it from a crazy ex. The movie was sweet. Charming. Jen watched it half naked in my living room, which is pretty memorable in itself...lol (Jen's a beautiful creature, truly, although she doesn't fully accept that without weird issues about it). I think the best part of the movie was watching Jen's face as she sunk into the warm places of the story. Ok, well enough about that. Anyway, we didn't do the Tift park shots because the light was all fucked up by then. We did whip out some pretty cool shots despite that at my place. Jen smoking on the stove (sounds silly but it actually looked pretty cool). Jen doesn't smoke, but she's a master actress remember? Jen looking...well...hot...in an alley between the garage and the neighbor's building. Then Jen standing in front of doors holding her shoes which ended up looking pretty darn cool to me. That's Jen though, she can do anything and it will look good. Here's the shots after I finished them.

So that was how the morning went with Jen. That and some rather interesting conversation which I will not be posting here. The afternoon went pretty well too as I got to shoot with Aubrey again. We didn't work more than a couple hours on some ideas I wanted to try but I don't think we had quite the right props to achieve exactly what I had in my head. Although the shots all came out really good anyway. Haven't edited anything yet. After that I dropped Aubrey off at Andy's ( Andy Webster, another great photographer in the area) and got "suspiciously" invited into his studio where my "drop off" visit turned into a few hours of hanging out, bizarre conversations about special musical instrument inventions by Aubrey, and grilling dinner indoors (he's got one of those loft studios with 18 billion square feet of space). Cool stuff.
Went home, chilled, edited, crashed. 'Til another day. :)
Don't forget I have a portfolio site with MUCH more work in it at http://www.amberlightphotography.com/. Stop in, check things out, mosey on over to the contact page, get in touch, book a shoot, yes? :)
